Agriculture Information and Resources


Robert D. Halman, M.Ag., M.S., is the Collier County Extension Director and Agricultural Agent. Robert offers 21 years of extension experience and is the Agriculture agent providing timely, relevant programming for small farm operators, 4H youth and agribusiness enterprises in Collier County.

Collier County is a traditional rural county that has, over the past 10 years, transitioned into a predominately urban/suburban county with rural mixtures on the northern and eastern fringes.

Producers are under increasing pressures from urban and environmental influences while continuing to obtain sustainability and profitability. The future of Collier County’s agricultural industry will rely heavily on their taking advantage of the available markets, the use of non-traditional farm enterprises, and development of sound farm/business and marketing management.

Collier County Extension programs recognize the urbanization of the county and the need to diversify agricultural concepts. The outreach arm of the agricultural program will provide information to Collier citizens on past, present and future agriculture industry issues and how it interfaces with their daily lives.
