IFAS Resources for Small Farms

Small Farms and Alternative Enterprises

The UF/IFAS Small Farms and Alternative Enterprise team is a  statewide effort of Cooperative Extension Service faculty and staff of the University of Florida and Florida A&M University. The team hosts a website with resources related to the critical issues facing small farms in Florida, and coordinates several regional workshops, regional Florida Small Farms and Alternative Enterprises Conferences and regional small farms working groups that meet periodically on operating small farms. You can find the schedule of all of these activities by visiting the Calendar of Events section of the website.

Southwest Florida Small Farmers Network

The Southwest Florida Small Farmers Network brings together small farmers from all around our district several times a year for field days on a host farm in our region. These field days include a farm tour, a potluck lunch and an afternoon of networking and education. Come join us!

Regional Small Farm Conference: South Centeral

We had a great turnout at the South Central Florida Small Farm conference in April. But if you missed it and want to join in the next Regional Conference, check out what is coming up in Ft. Pierce this November (as well as a list of other Small Farm events) here

Beginning Farming Programming

The Agricultural program of the Collier County UF/IFAS Extension office offers a Small Farm Acreage workshop that deals with farming on 10 acres or less, including vegetable production and small livestock management.

If you missed attending past workshops, many of the handouts and PowerPoint presentations are available via the links below. If you have additional questions or require further information, please contact our offices.
